3D-printed architectural models: from plan to physical model
A render looks good on screen, but a physical model the client can hold and view from any angle convinces differently. For architects, developers and design offices, 3D printing makes the model fast, precise and affordable.
Why a 3D-printed model
- Sells the project — clients grasp volume and proportion instantly, without reading plans
- Accurate to scale — we follow dimensions faithfully, not approximated like a hand-built model
- Fast — days, not weeks of manual work
- Reproducible — if you need several copies, we print them identically
What we can make
- Residential and commercial building models
- Complexes and neighborhoods to scale
- Interior models and sections
- Facade elements and architectural details
- Models for competitions and presentations
How the process works
1. Your file. We start from the 3D model (SketchUp, Revit, ArchiCAD, .STL, .OBJ, .STEP) or from plans if you have no model — we'll build it.
2. Print preparation. We optimize the model for scale: choosing the level of detail, minimum thicknesses, and splitting the model into sections if it's large.
3. Printing. We pick the material and color to suit the presentation (classic matte white or color by zone).
4. Finishing and assembly. We clean, sand and assemble the parts. Optionally we paint or add contrast between volumes.
At what scale
From desktop models (small, for a single building) to large complexes split into modules. We'll recommend the scale based on the project size and the goal of the presentation.
What you need
Ideally, a 3D model of the project. If you only have 2D plans or sketches, we can model it via our 3D modeling service.
